Born in 1960, Captain Chuck Dessommes moved to Pensacola in 1968. He received the precursor of his two charter boats on his 13th birthday; a Glastron GT-150. In 1978, he got a 20 foot center console Mako which became the first of his offshore charter boats. After having fun wasting three years at UNC Chapel Hill, Captain Chuck returned to Pensacola and earned his BS degree in marketing from the University of West Florida in 1983. By 1984, running Pensacola deep sea charter fishing boats became his full time, sole source of income, occupation. Captain Chuck has run other boat owners' twin diesel charter boats in Pensacola ranging from 36 to 55 feet in length. Now, if he is not chartering his own boat out of Pensacola, Captain Chuck commercial fishes his boat, legally, with his federal reef fish permit plus red snapper and grouper IFQ's. In 1993, Chuck upgraded his US Coast Guard Six Passenger Captain License to a 100 Ton Master Captain License. A consumate professional, Captain Chuck can safely and swiftly transform any first time fisherman into a productive angler. |

Of the two boats ever used by Chuck's Charters, the latest and greatest boat is a 24 ft Grady White, Offshore Pro. Grady White boat hulls are foam filled. They won't sink! This boat has a fully enclosed helm with clear curtains that can be raised or lowered as need be. During the hot summer, an additional bimini top is attached that covers the entire back deck allowing customers to fish and travel in the shade. The boat also has high sides making it very child friendly. Electronics on board include a 36 mile radar, GPS, Loran, color video sounder, two VHF radios, cell phone, 406 MHz EPIRB, and the required federal Vessel Monitoring System which sends a signal to a satellite allowing the federal government to track the boat 24/7, 365 days a year. Two livewells on each side of the spacious back deck keep loads of live bait fresh and active. On July 2nd, 2008 a new 2009 Evinrude E-Tec HO 250 was installed replacing the old 250 Yamaha. The new Evinrude engine also allows for a 30 mph cruise speed. |
